CAGMG's

Social Network System

(or 'Email-Tree')

Cagmg picked this idea up while visiting a group in Derbyshire recently, it works in two ways, and the benefits of these systems is they can both add a certain amount of spontaneity to the groups’ events.

Lets give an example; ‘Fred has some friends down from London for the weekend, and decides to have a party to which he would like to invite the group.’ Or, ‘Jim thinks it might be nice to go to the Kingfisher Pub* in Dover next week, and would like to invite the group along.’

These can happen in two ways:

The first method is Fred or Jim can email directly the members of the group who are happy to have their email addresses known to other members of the group.

The second way, for those who do not wish their addresses to be shared so freely,** is that their email addresses are only held by the membership secretary and chairman who then act as coordinators, so Fred or Jim just email the coordinators to distribute their invites for them.

We accept that this is not of any real help for those without computers, but, there is always the events advertised in the the newsletter, and of course if some one was a friend of either Fred or Jim, they would probably telephone them anyway.

With the groups we have spoken to, this system seems to work extremely well ,as it is an organised system to aid spur-of-the-moment socials.

*The Kingfisher Pub located at 94 London road Dover is a gay pub, a number of members have enjoyed visiting

**By using the Bcc address bar when emailing, other members addresses are not visible to other recipients of the email
